The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, has accused the the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) of spreading negative propaganda against Kabul.

In a statement, Mujahid said that UNAMA exaggerates minor issues instead of presenting factual reports, adding that its activities are detrimental not only to Afghanistan but also to the United Nations itself.

“UNAMA has acted contrary to the expectations of the Afghan government,” Mujahid stated, criticizing the mission’s approach toward reporting on Afghanistan.

Afghan spokesman remarks come just days before Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of UNAMA, is set to address the UN Security Council on March 10 regarding the situation in the country.
