President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari has approved the controversial “Prevention of Electronics Crimes” (PECA) Act (Amendment) Bill 2025, despite widespread of Journalist. The PECA Act Amendment Bill 2025 became law after the President of Pakistan signed it.
The bill was passed by the National Assembly on January 23. After which this bill was also approved by the senate last day.
Journalists and opposition members had staged a walkout from Parliament proceedings against the PECA Act Amendment Bill. The opposition also voiced their disapproval by tearing copies of the bill.
On the other hand, journalists’ organizations are also protesting across the country against the approval of the controversial amendment of the PECA Act.
Yesterday, journalists protested in different cities of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sukkur and Quetta, condemning the controversial amendment.
