Karachi: (Special Correspondent) A power struggle has erupted between Hassan Akbar, the Advocate General Sindh (AG) and Ali Raza Khan, Additional Advocate General over securing control of financial authority.
The issue began when the AG issued an order that disregarded a notification issued by the Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah just three days earlier.
According to details, on November 18, 2024, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah issued a notification appointing Ali Raza Khan, Assistant Advocate General, as Additional Advocate General Sindh.
However, just three days later, on November 21, 2024, AG Sindh, Hassan Akbar, while dominating the CM notification, issued an order No. A.G 6603 of 2024, appointing Ali Raza Khan as Additional Advocate General Sindh at Sukkar as in charge.
Simultaneously, he also removed Liaqat Ali Shar from the same role from Sukkar and appointed him as Additional Advocate General Sindh at Larkana. In his order, the Advocate General has also retained his powers as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) in Sukkur, which had previously been held by Liaqat Ali Shar.
This move effectively gives the Advocate General Sindh control over the financial operations, including the approval of salaries and other expenses for employees in Sukkur.
It is important to note that the Advocate General also holds DDO powers in both Karachi and Mirpurkhas as well.
According to the sources within the department, Ali Raza Khan had allegedly secured the appointment through a significant financial contribution, however after losing the financial powers, he is now in the state of disappointment.
In response to his grievances, Ali Raza Khan has reportedly contacted the Sindh Chief Minister’s office as well as Bilawal House, seeking resolution for what he perceives as a blow to his financial autonomy.
