India’s strategic tactic on Chabahar Port remain in full swing to counter the Pakistan’s trade routes and also to achieve its broader region interests.
After his diplomatic manoeuvre with Iran regarding Chabahar Port, India is now seeking to influence Afghanistan under the guise of promoting trade and assisting Afghan immigrants.
Indian foreign secretary, Vikram Misri in a recent meeting with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Maulvi Ameer Khan Muttaqi in Dubai, stressed the importance of the Chabahar Port as a vital trade route.
During the discussion, Misri also offered India’s continued support to Afghanistan’s health sector and underlined humanitarian assistance, particularly for Afghan refugees.
Vikram Misri emphasizes the importance of Chabahar port and maintained that using Chabahar port as a strategic trade route not only help to improve Afghanistan’s economy but also increase regional connectivity.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed various bilateral issues, including the current security situation and India’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan,
It should be noted that India’s unusual focus at the moment is the Chabahar port, which it has been using as a base for terrorism in Pakistan.

Simultaneously, Afghanistan is navigating its own diplomatic relations. Afghan Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, Maulvi Abdul Kabeer, held an introductory meeting with the new Iranian Ambassador to Kabul, Ali Raza Begdali.
Following the meeting, in a statement issued, the Iranian ambassador reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to prioritize the activation and expansion of Chabahar port.
While citing the cooperation agreements between Iran and Afghanistan Iranian Ambassador reiterated determination to strengthen cooperation with Afghanistan.
On this occasion, Maulvi Abdul Kabeer, Political Deputy of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, stressed that the Islamic Emirate would not allow its foreign relations to be undermined by external influences. He also underlined that Afghanistan is striving for regional stability and economic strength.
He demanded of Iranian Ambassador that the Iranian government should refrain from the forced deportation of Afghan refugees.
