Despite declaring educational emergency in Sindh and allocation of 25% of the total budget to education, the situation of government schools could not improve. The number of children dropping out of school has increased alarmingly.
Alarmingly, the dropout rate among students has surged, with over 5.5 million children now out of school.
More than 5.2 million students across 40,000 government schools are deprived of basic facilities.
A shocking 37% of public schools lack access to clean drinking water, 68% operate without electricity, 25% have no washrooms, and 49% are without boundary walls.
Provincial Minister for Education, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, acknowledged the substandard of education quality in government institutions, attributing much of the blame to teachers.
