Afghanistan has inked $145 million agreement with a private company to increase production of cement manufacturing plant, located in Logar, eastern province of Afghanistan.
The agreement was formalised in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and a private company.
The private company will invest about $145 million to build factories in Altamur area of Logar province. Once operational, these factories will have a daily production capacity of 2500 tons of cement.
Additional, the project is expected to create hundreds of jobs opportunities for locals, while the private company has also committed to provide health and education services to locals.
It is worth mentioning that after the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan came in power, four major cement projects have been signed between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and the private sector with an investment of about $623 million and work on them is going on rapidly.
